THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses the majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as child welfare concerns. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to avoid court proceedings and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Subsequently, in 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, increasing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases involving child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts played a significant role in helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at the children's parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice was not limited to her legal career when she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law - divorce child support, custody and guardianships as well in estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy - and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the goal of providing an individual approach to every client's need.
